Bronchitis Treatment

Bronchitis is an inflammation of the main air passages to the lungs. It happens when your trachea (windpipe) and the large and small bronchi (airways) in your lungs become inflamed because of infection or other causes. It causes a cough, shortness of breath and chest tightness. Coughing usually brings up yellow or greenish mucus. Bronchitis may be betokened by an expectorating cough, shortness of breath ( dyspnea ) and wheezing. Sometimes chest pains, fever, and fatigue or malaise may also occur.

Bronchitis caused by adenoviridae may cause systemic and gastroentestinal symptoms. There are two major types of bronchitis: acute and chronic. Acute bronchitis is individualized by cough and sputum (phlegm) production and symptoms related to the impediment of the airways by the inflamed airways and the phlegm, such as shortness of breath and wheezing.

Chronic bronchitis is a long-term condition. Chronic bronchitis, on the other hand, can be soft to severe and is longer lasting — from several months to years. Chronic bronchitis is most common in smokers, though people who have isochronal episodes of acute bronchitis sometimes develop the chronic condition. Breathing in other fumes and dusts over a long period of time may also cause chronic bronchitis.

People have a cough which produces excess mucus. Medications to help suppress the cough or loosen and clear secretions may be helpful. Acetaminophen, aspirin, or ibuprofen will help with fever and muscle aches. Use a humidifier or steam in the bathroom. Limit your exposure to pollutants and other lung irritants. Avoid exposure to paint or exhaust fumes, dust, and people with colds. Wash your hands frequently to avoid spreading viruses and other infections.

Sundry home remedies also reduce bronchitis. Onion is of terrific value in treating bronchitis. Fifty grams of fresh leaves of spinach, and 250 ml of water should be combined with a pinch of ammonium chloride and one teaspoonful of honey. Chicory or endive is another effective home remedy for bronchitis. A hot epsom salts bath every night or every other night is precious during the severe stages of the attack. Pour a cup of boiling water into a cup with grind/ cut horseradish root, wait 5 minutes and drink. Repeat 3 times a day. Fresh air and outdoor exercise are also needful for the treatment of bronchitis.
